Tradewinds Group Procurement Leaders Convene to Explore Long-Tail Spend Transformation

Kuala Lumpur, 22 June 2026 – More than 60 procurement, finance and operational professionals from across the Tradewinds Group gathered today for a strategic discussion focused on a challenge facing many large organisations: how to achieve greater visibility, control and efficiency across long-tail spend.

The session brought together stakeholders from multiple business units to exchange perspectives on procurement transformation, spend management and supplier optimisation opportunities across the wider group ecosystem.

A key topic of discussion was Supplier and Spend Consolidation. As organisations grow, purchasing activities often become fragmented across departments and subsidiaries, resulting in multiple suppliers providing similar products and services without a consolidated view of total expenditure. Participants explored how improved visibility into long-tail spend can unlock opportunities for cost optimisation, stronger governance, enhanced supplier management and improved operational efficiency.

One of the highlights of the event was a sharing session by Khairul Azman, Chief Procurement Officer of DRB-HICOM, who outlined his vision for strengthening procurement governance and spend visibility across the broader DRB-HICOM, MMC and Tradewinds ecosystem. His insights highlighted the importance of leveraging technology, data and collaboration to drive more informed procurement decisions at scale.

The event also showcased the growing commitment among procurement leaders to challenge traditional purchasing approaches and explore new ways of managing indirect and long-tail spend. Discussions focused on creating greater transparency, reducing supplier fragmentation and enabling more strategic procurement practices across the organisation.

Beyond the presentations and discussions, the session provided a valuable platform for leaders and practitioners to exchange ideas, share experiences and align on common objectives for procurement excellence.

As organisations continue to navigate increasing complexity in supplier management and spend governance, conversations such as these play a critical role in shaping the future of procurement and driving meaningful transformation across the enterprise.
